A woman who revealed that she makes all of her guests use her “human litter box” has gone viral on the internet. And to top it all off, after using the litter box next to her kitchen, she even requests that her visitors leave a cash tip. Since then, she has only talked to Bored Panda about her unusual lifestyle.

Ivy Bloom, a TikToker with over 227,000 followers, is well-known for leading an eccentric and alternative lifestyle. She replaced her toilets with a human litter box, among other unusual habits.

The 23-year-old previously made news when she forced her guests to use her rear garden’s restroom, leading to a $25,000 fine.

Ivy originally published a video on her TikTok profile in April, garnering 35 million views, showcasing her environmentally conscious toilets.

The American resident of Arizona had at the time shown her improvised lavatories in her backyard, where visitors had to dig a hole to relieve themselves.

However, her technique was considered hazardous since the neighborhood’s drinking water may be seriously jeopardized if it were to rain, as the excrement could seep into the soil and eventually subterranean water supplies.

Since then, Ivy has upgraded to a human litter box, which she proudly displayed on October 9 in a TikTok video.

In the video, Ivy said, “I require all of my guests to use the bathroom in a litter box.”

“I used to let my friends use my garden as a bathroom, but I’ve since learned how unsanitary that is,” she said in her explanation.

“I ask guests to put on these foot covers before they enter the potty area, and first-timers must read the rules.”

Ivy revealed the guidelines in the video, and the first one was to “dig a hole at least six inches from any existing marker.” #2 Use no more than two paper towel sheets for each use. #3 Before leaving the restroom, please log the journal.

Subordinate to the ruleboard was a smaller sign that said, “TIPS Are Appreciated.”

To top it off, she even asks her guests to leave a monetary tip after using the litter box, which is located right next to her kitchen

The TikToker went on, “It’s pretty simple, you just do what you have to do and put your toilet paper on top.” “I give the guests charcoal to use inside to help absorb smells; after that, you cover it with litter and mark the spot with the stick.”

Ivy’s human-sized cat litter box looks to be made of a shallow wooden box that is filled with something that looks like sand.

In the video, brightly colored balls that resembled decorative accents or cat toys were put on poles in the sand. In addition, the box seemed to be situated just next to a kitchen countertop.

Many people were in disbelief after seeing the video, and one TikTok user wrote, “I would cry.”

“Am I a cat?” enquired one of the viewers.

Another wrote: “It makes sense why my mother forbade me from going to just any old person’s house.”

“I could use that privacy curtain isn’t enough, I need a lock and a door with no cracks in it,” someone commented.

A netizen asked, “So going outside is more unsanitary than going basically in your kitchen?”

“I really need to know what would you do if someone gets diarrhea,” said an onlooker.

One more person said, “My mouth dropped.”

Ivy outlined her cleaning process for her human litter box in a follow-up video that was uploaded to TikTok on October 11.

“I collect all of the waste from the areas designated with sticks on the first of each month and then I put it in biodegradable bags,” the woman stated.

The Hungarian-Mexican artist continued by saying that, in order to lessen germs, she put waste bags in a dry ice chamber for 45 minutes.

After using a black light to examine the litter box for bacteria and adding eucalyptus aroma if necessary, she would use a UV light for three hours to eradicate the bacteria.

Ivy would turn the waste into manure in nursery pots while she waited, growing plants she could sell at the neighborhood farmers market by adding seeds, fertilizer, and compost.

Ivy, an avid hiker, camper, and gardener, wrote Bored Panda in an email, “The human litter box is an eco-friendly way of allowing my guests to use the bathroom in my house.”

She described how her single bathroom overflowed two years prior due to a friend’s stay, ruining a treasured carpet.

She couldn’t afford to hire a plumber, so she delivered meals for three days to make ends meet. During the night, she relieved herself in her yard or in public facilities.

Because of this and the fact that the episode made her more phobic, she insisted that guests use the yard in order to prevent another restroom catastrophe.

In response to her $20,000 punishment for her outside setup, she devised the concept of a human litter box.

Ivy disclosed, “I received a $20,000 fine for owning an outdoor restroom system.” “To pay it off, I had to go on a payment plan, and I’m still working on it today.”

When questioned if she had used any of her tip money to pay the fee, she said, “I wasn’t able to use the tip money to pay the fine because I had to use it to help pay for rent when I was forced to move out.”

Ivy clarified that she got the idea for a human litter box from seeing how simple and well-kept the cat’s litter box was when she was at a friend’s house.

She became interested in testing a similar idea for people after making this observation. Even so, she acknowledged: “I want to be clear that only my guests are obliged to use the human litter box; I don’t use it myself. I use my personal bathroom and toilet.

Ivy said, “At first I was very hesitant to post about it, but my friends really enjoyed using the litter box and made me feel very comfortable about it,” in response to the criticism that her TikTok videos have consistently drawn, with many viewers voicing worries about sanitation.

“I write about the litter box in the hopes of inspiring others and being honest about my lifestyle.”

Ivy clarified: “People think that the litter box is unhygienic, but I undertake really intense cleaning procedures to clean the litter box.” Ivy regularly shares content about her charitable activities with homeless people on social media.

“I use a UV light to eradicate all bacteria from the litter box and I also sanitize all of the litter.”

“People think it’s unhygienic when they hear about it, but they’d have to see it in person to see that it’s actually very well maintained,” the speaker continued.

According to LVy, the lavender-scented litter and her thorough cleaning procedure keep the litter box odor-free.

She also often burns incense, which makes her house fragrant and prevents the stench of the litter box from being overbearing.

“When my landlord first saw it, he was a little taken aback and said, ‘Whatever you do, as long as you pay the rent,'” the tenant said.

In response to inquiries about the likelihood of encountering a visitor who suffers from “diarrhea,” the influencer said that she would advise guests with stomachaches to utilize the nearby convenience shop rather than the litter box.

After being fined $20,000 for her outdoor setup, she came up with the idea of a human litter box as a solution

Regarding the concerns of being close to the kitchen, Ivy stated, “I don’t think about it much because I don’t cook very often.” Even if I did, there would be no hygienic issues because the litter box is kept in excellent condition.

Ivy said that in order to pay for the expenses of hosting, such as offering drinks and snacks to people using the litter box, she asks for tips from her visitors.

Additionally, the tips assist in paying for the cleaning supplies required to keep the litter box clean. “They are frequently hesitant at first, but after trying it, they eventually come to enjoy using the litter box,” the speaker said in her conclusion.

“My home is only visited by close friends who I’ve known for a long time, so they have faith in me to keep the litter box tidy and sanitary for their use.”

Ivy’s toilets continued to prompt heated debates
